My Suncatcher Patterns

In my search of the web, I found instructions for the 2 Needle RAW. Once I read about this weave, I discovered that this is actually the stitch I use, just I work my suncatcher patterns diagonally.

I have now had a chance to incorporate this into my new tutorials, but at the time I called my stitch a "Diagonal Square Stitch". I was, however, able to use this new knowledge to help a fellow beader...

The 2 Needle RAW was brought to my attention by Bev (a new Faceted Bead Artist). She tried to use my FacetedBeadArt with Right Angle Weave instructions, but it was for the 1 needle technique (at the time). Her comments:

"I used the single needle RAW which was given in your instruction book. However, I did not like tying on and off for each row. I adapted to a double needle(line) RAW. I started at the center diagonal of the pattern - the lower left corner and worked to the upper right corner. I completed the lower half of the pattern first, then the upper half. This eliminated tying on and off every row - just when I need new line. As the pattern was square all I had to do was decrease on each row to the corner. I am starting a piece that is not square now so will have to work out how to increase. Enclosed are a couple pictures of the hummingbird pattern 0049. Thanks again for taking the time to create your patterns."

She was having trouble increasing the rows. Once I found out about the 2 needle technique, I was able to help her and now she is able to work all of the patterns.

I have now worked up new instructional e-book for my diagonal RAW that includes these new innovations.

Books I found at Amazon

Beading With Right Angle Weave - I have added this book to my library and find it to be very informative. It has instructions for both the 1 and 2 needle version of the RAW and comes with 21 projects to try our your new skills on. This book is great for beginner and experienced right angle weavers.
